Britain since 1900 : Conflict and Change

Britain has changed profoundly since 1900 in terms of Empire, politics, society and culture. This course examines both domestic and foreign affairs, and will analyse such subjects as: the role and position of women in society ; the two World Wars and the Inter-War Years ; the process of decolonisation and the growth of the Commonwealth; the shift from post-war Keynesianism to 1970s neoliberalism ; the rise of nationalism(s) in the UK and devolution of power.

- Initiation à l'historiographie.

- Être capable d'analyser un texte de civilisation (commentaire de texte).

- Être capable d'analyser et d'argumenter sur un sujet (dissertation).

- Être capable d'analyser un document iconographique (commentaire de document iconographique).

- Être capable d'analyser un document audio/vidéo (commentaire de document audio/video)

- Initiation à la synthèse de documents.

- Être capable de débattre sur un sujet d'actualité à l'oral.

- Maîtriser les dates et évènements majeurs qui ont marqué le 19^ème siècle.
